Fiber

The Midland-Odessa area and greater Permian Basin region continue to see steady expansion of fiber optic infrastructure, bringing high speed, reliable connectivity to homes and businesses across the region.

Midland-Odessa Area

Midland is home to 7 fiber rings and Odessa is home to 8, providing strong redundancies in the area. Monahans has also worked to build out their own fiber ring and set a model that many other smaller communities are now following.

The Permian Basin

The Permian Basin has multiple fiber companies operating in the area, most notably; AT&T, Big Bend Telcom, Fiberlite, and Segra. Big Bend was the first to build their own cloud data storage facility in the area, and over the last year several data centers have started work on facilities here.

I-20 corridor

The I-20 corridor serves as the primary route for east-west fiber through the area, with numerous options available, as well as dark fiber capabilities. But fibers lines also stretch north and south connecting to San Antonio and the Texas Panhandle, and beyond.
